Mercedes-Maybach: the top of the range, and where to begin.
Maybach is the ultra-luxury tier of Mercedes-Benz, positioned above the standard lineup with more hand-finishing, more rear-cabin refinement, and bespoke detailing inside and out. Where AMG is built around performance, Maybach is built around presence and comfort.
The badge appears on flagship sedans and SUVs, and on the Maybach SL roadster, which brings that ultra-luxury treatment to an open two-seat grand tourer. It is not a trim sticker bolted onto a regular car. It is a distinct sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz, with its own model family, its own build catalog, and its own standard of finishing.
When you order a Maybach, you are ordering a car finished to a different standard: different two-tone paint treatments, different wheels, a Maybach-specific cabin, and detailing that does not appear anywhere else in the Mercedes range.
Wherever you're shopping from — Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Pensacola, or another state entirely — the car and the process are the same, and both are laid out below.
This is what Maybach money buys: the signature grille, the hand-finished monogram hood, a two-seat roadster built for exactly this kind of coast road. Details like these never trickle down to a standard SL. Photo: Mercedes-Benz USA official Facebook page.
02The flagship
The 2026 Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, spec by spec.
The Maybach SL is the open-top flagship of the range, a two-seat luxury roadster that pairs SL grand-touring engineering with Maybach's signature finishing. The Maybach SL 680 sits at the top of that lineup as the most powerful, most fully appointed version, and it is the model most buyers picture when they search "Maybach SL 680 for sale."
Here is what the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series brings:
$224,900 before destination and options (per Mercedes-Benz USA)
A few things worth flagging. The SL 680 is the first Maybach convertible since the S 650 Cabriolet, which makes it a rare body style for the sub-brand. It is all-wheel drive as standard, useful on the Emerald Coast when a summer storm rolls in off the Gulf and Beal Parkway gets slick.
And the "680" badge does not mean 680 horsepower. It is a Maybach designation, and the published output is 577 hp.
We mention that because more than one buyer has walked into our showroom expecting the badge to be the horsepower figure, and we would rather you have the real number before you sign.
On fuel economy, the SL 680's V8 is thirsty by design. The EPA estimates published at fueleconomy.gov for the Maybach SL land in the mid-teens city and low-twenties highway, roughly 13 city / 20 highway depending on the model year.
If maximum efficiency is your priority, this is not the Mercedes for you, and we will say so plainly. A Maybach SL is a statement grand tourer, not a commuter.
What the Monogram Series adds
The Monogram Series is Maybach's most decorated SL treatment. Expect:
the signature Maybach two-tone exterior finish
the Maybach monogram pattern on the acoustic soft top, with a hand-sanded PixelPaint hood available
exclusive forged wheels
Nappa leather across surfaces a standard SL leaves in synthetic material
The car ships with the full Mercedes-Benz driver-assistance suite, Burmester audio, and the R232 SL's 11.9-inch MBUX touchscreen, which tilts to cut glare with the top down.
None of that is a reason to buy on its own. But if you are paying Maybach money, it is what you are paying for, and it is worth confirming line by line on the build sheet before you commit.
A walkthrough of the red Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 in our showroom — the monogram detailing, the forged wheels, and the two-seat Nappa cabin, up close.
Maybach SL versus a standard SL: what you're paying for.
Plenty of shoppers ask us a fair question: why the Maybach SL over a standard Mercedes-AMG SL? They share a platform, after all. Here is the honest breakdown we give in the showroom.
It's about the finishing. The AMG SL variants chase lap times. The Maybach SL chases refinement — softer suspension tuning, exclusive two-tone paint, Maybach-grade leather and trim, and the badge itself. If your priority is the fastest possible SL, an AMG SL 63 will be quicker and cost less.
Exclusivity. Maybach builds far fewer cars. The SL is a limited, top-tier offering, not a volume model, and we can tell you what is available to build or source right now. For an independent read on pricing, Edmunds tracks the Maybach SL too.
Resale and rarity. Low production tends to support residual value on halo cars, though we never promise a specific resale number — anyone who does is guessing. If residuals matter to you, cross-check the trade-in and private-party ranges on kbb.com before and after you buy so you are working off real numbers, not optimism.
The catch: if you want a fast, beautiful Mercedes convertible to drive hard on Highway 98, the AMG SL is the smarter buy and saves you real money. The Maybach SL earns its premium for buyers who specifically want the Maybach finish, the exclusivity, and the presence, and if the AMG fits how you drive, that's where we'll point you.
One more caveat on the body style. A two-seat roadster is a wonderful third car and a frustrating only car. There is no back seat, the trunk shrinks with the top stowed, and you will not be hauling a Costco run or a car seat in it.
If it would be the single vehicle in your driveway, a Maybach GLS SUV or a flagship sedan is the better fit, and we sell those too.
04How it works
What our team does before a Maybach leaves our lot.
A car at this price point gets handled differently from a volume model, and we want you to know exactly what happens on our side.
We verify the build sheet against your order. Before we confirm a sourced Maybach, our team pulls the factory build sheet and cross-checks every line — paint code, interior, package, wheels — against what you ordered. On a six-figure car, a wrong option is not a small problem, so we check it twice.
We inspect the soft top and seals. The SL 680 is a soft-top roadster, and Gulf Coast humidity is brutal on convertible mechanisms. Before delivery we cycle the top through its full open-and-close range and inspect the seals, a check that matters far more here than it would in a dry climate.
We run the VIN through NHTSA before handoff. We check every Maybach's VIN against the open-recall database at nhtsa.gov so nothing outstanding ships with the car. You can run the same check yourself anytime, and we encourage it.
We walk the paint in natural light. Two-tone Maybach finishes show swirl marks and transport scuffs that fluorescent showroom lighting hides. We pull each car outside and inspect the bodywork in daylight before we call it ready, and we have sent cars back to our detail bay when they didn't meet that bar.
We decline to push cars that don't match. When a buyer's spec wasn't in our inventory, we have sourced the correct build to order rather than talking anyone into a "close enough" car sitting on the lot. On a Maybach, close enough isn't good enough.
We detail and protect it for the climate. Our detail team preps the paint and leather for delivery, the same standard we hold across the shared make-ready operation on our Beal Parkway campus.

Sight-unseen, start to driveway — at a glance
How buying a Maybach here works, in four steps.
You don't have to live on the Emerald Coast to buy your Maybach here. One recent buyer closed in 48 hours, sight-unseen. Here's the path from spec to your door.
STEP 01
Spec & source
We source and spec the exact SL 680 you want — a car this specific is easier to get right through one dealership than to chase across local lots.
STEP 02
Pricing & finance, remote
Numbers up front with no surprises. Finance is coordinated through our finance director, and out-the-door figures are confirmed in writing before anything is signed.
STEP 03
Verify & prep
Build-sheet check against your order, NHTSA recall check, top-and-seal inspection, daylight paint walk, and a full detail.
STEP 04
Enclosed delivery
We default to enclosed transport on a six-figure roadster and deliver to your door, anywhere in the country — and explain the tradeoff before you choose.
On a six-figure car, a wrong option isn't a small problem. We pull the factory build sheet and cross-check every line — paint code, interior, package, wheels — against what you ordered, and we check it twice.
05Step by step
Nationwide delivery from Fort Walton Beach.
You don't have to live on the Emerald Coast to buy your Maybach here. A vehicle this specific is often easier to source and spec correctly through one dealership than to chase across local lots, so out-of-state buyers regularly do the whole purchase remotely and take delivery at home.
Here's how an out-of-area Maybach purchase works with us:
1. Tell us the model and spec. Maybach SL, Maybach SL 680, or a Maybach flagship sedan or SUV. Give us the powertrain, interior, color, and trim you're after.
2. We locate or build it. If it isn't in our current inventory, we source it to your spec rather than talking you into something close. For build-to-order configurations, we work from the exact factory option codes, so there is no ambiguity about what you're getting.
3. We handle pricing and financing remotely. Our sales team puts the numbers together up front so there are no surprises before you commit. Finance is coordinated through our finance director, and we confirm out-the-door figures in writing before anything is signed.
4. We verify and prep the car. Build-sheet check, NHTSA recall check, top-and-seal inspection, daylight paint walk, full detail.
5. We arrange delivery. Once everything's set, we coordinate getting the car to you, wherever you are.
On remote delivery, an enclosed transporter on a six-figure roadster is not the place to save a few hundred dollars. We default to enclosed carriers for Maybach deliveries and will explain the tradeoff before you choose.
Open transport is cheaper, but exposing a soft-top luxury car to road grit and weather is a false economy we would rather you avoid.
This is not hypothetical. One recent out-of-state buyer was shopping for an SL roadster within a 250-mile radius, reached out to us, and had two walkaround videos plus our full inspection report and warranty details back within 24 hours.
She bought the car remotely and closed the whole thing inside 48 hours, the same sequence we would run on a Maybach SL 680. (You can read that account, and others like it, in our Google reviews.)
You're also welcome to handle as much of this in person as you like. We're at 1000 Beal Parkway NW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547, about a ten-minute drive from downtown Fort Walton Beach and an easy run from Destin and Niceville.
Spec the color, the interior, the trim, and this is the car that arrives, enclosed, at your door. Whether you take delivery in your driveway or on Beal Parkway, it shows up detailed, verified, and exactly as you ordered. Photo: Mercedes-Benz USA official Facebook page.
06Pricing
A straight note on pricing and fees.
The MSRP figures above come from Mercedes-Benz USA and current dealer listings on kbb.com and edmunds.com, and they reflect the configuration you choose.
A Maybach SL 680 can move several thousand dollars depending on paint, interior, and packages.
On top of MSRP, Florida buyers should plan for state and local taxes, title, and registration. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles publishes the title and registration fee schedule at flhsmv.gov. For out-of-state buyers, your home state's DMV sets the tax and registration rules, and we coordinate the paperwork accordingly.
You get a full, line-itemed out-the-door number before you commit. If anything on that sheet is unclear, ask us to explain it. That's the job.

Why buy your Maybach at Fort Walton Beach.
Mercedes-Benz of Fort Walton Beach is a full Mercedes-Benz store — sales, service, and parts at 1000 Beal Parkway NW, and you can read what recent buyers say in our Google reviews before you commit to a car at this price.
A client-advisor team that knows the lineup. Our Mercedes Client Advisors, alongside our management team, help you sort Maybach SL versus SL 680 versus a Maybach sedan or SUV so you buy the right car the first time.
Service that stays with the car. Whether you're local or buying from out of state, your Maybach is backed by a Mercedes-Benz service department on the same campus. Service runs Monday–Saturday 7:00 AM–6:00 PM, with a complimentary coffee and espresso bar, snacks and drinks, Wi-Fi work stations, shuttle service, and loaners by appointment.
A Best Price Guarantee on Service. "If you find a better price on a service identical to the one we performed, we'll refund 100% of the difference." Useful peace of mind on a car whose maintenance is not inexpensive. (Ask your advisor for current program terms.)
A Military Advantage Program. Given Eglin and Hurlburt right up the road, a meaningful share of our buyers are active-duty and veteran, and our Military Advantage Program, along with the USAA Sales Program, is built for them. Contact us for more information on the USAA Sales Program.

08Ownership
Owning a Maybach SL on the Emerald Coast.
A soft-top V8 grand tourer is close to the ideal car for this part of Florida, top down along Okaloosa Island with the Gulf on one side and the bay on the other. A few ownership realities worth knowing:
Heat and humidity are the enemy of leather and tops. We recommend keeping the car garaged when you can and letting our service team condition the interior on a regular cadence. The soft top in particular benefits from periodic seal care in this climate.
Salt air is real. If you park near the water on Okaloosa Island or out toward Destin, an occasional underbody rinse and paint protection check pays off. Our detail team can set you up.
Premium fuel only. The 4.0L biturbo V8 wants premium, and at Florida pump prices a thirsty V8 adds up fast over a season of top-down driving. Budget accordingly.
Tires are a real line item. A staggered performance-tire setup on a heavy luxury roadster is not cheap to replace, and Gulf heat is hard on rubber. We'd rather you budget for it now than be surprised later.
Service intervals matter. Mercedes-Benz publishes the maintenance schedule for the SL platform; we keep your Maybach on it, and our Best Price Guarantee keeps the cost honest.
One practical note for out-of-state shoppers comparing Florida dealers: confirm the dealership you buy from is a franchised Mercedes-Benz store, not a broker reselling a unit.
A franchised store handles factory recalls, warranty, and Maybach-specific service in-house. We do all of that on the same Beal Parkway campus.

Yes. The Maybach SL 680 comes with 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard, which is a genuine benefit when summer storms hit the Gulf Coast.
The EPA estimates published at fueleconomy.gov put the Maybach SL in the mid-teens city and low-twenties highway, roughly 13 city / 20 highway depending on configuration. It takes premium fuel.
This is a grand tourer, not an economy car, and we say so plainly.
If your priority is outright performance and value, the AMG SL is quicker and costs less, and we will tell you so. The Maybach SL is for buyers who specifically want the Maybach finish, exclusivity, and presence.
We'll help you choose based on how you drive, not on which car carries the bigger badge.
For most people, no. There's no back seat, and trunk space is limited with the top down.
If the Maybach SL would be your only vehicle, we'll point you to a Maybach GLS SUV or a flagship Maybach sedan instead, both of which we sell and source.
Yes. We handle pricing and financing remotely, verify the build sheet and run an NHTSA recall check before handoff, and arrange delivery to you, wherever you are.
